New Member Orientation - How to Maximize your Membership!
Course Topics:
ProVisors Meeting Etiquette
Whether in-person or virtual, as you navigate within the PV community it is important to remember that you represent YOUR personal brand.
- Always promote yourself as the subject matter expert of your firm
- Register for your home group meetings as far out as possible
- Prepare for every PV encounter (name badge, zoom ready, etc.)
- Participate in PV meetings professionally
- WE ARE KLTR
Short Bios – Who are they / What do they do?
The ProVisors’ photolist is the 1st marketing piece that promotes who you are to your fellow members-this goes out in advance of EVERY event that you’ve registered for, highlighting your ‘personal brand’.
- Draft in the 1st person narrative, who you are, what you do and the clients you serve
- Be mindful of grammar and misspelling
- Utilize all the keywords that describe WHAT services you provide
- The field allows 250 characters, use as many as you can
Effective Introductions – How are you remembered?
Giving an impactful introduction, one must:
- Be clear/succinct (30-45 second snapshot of you and your specialty)
- Be informative (What makes you different?)
- Create resonance (What is the ‘takeaway’, are you memorable after leaving the room?)
- Target your audience (Identify your referral sources and direct your intro to them)
- Use tagline, slogans, or short stories to convey what you do (especially for niche’ specialties)
- Organize a system to keep info on the members you’ve met (Virtual Contact Cards can assist)
Troikas: How are you participating?
A troika is a private gathering of 3-4 PV members outside of the group meeting. You get to do a deeper dive into your specialties, and you get to learn more about your member’s professional focus. In preparing for a troika:
- Construct your own (send a list of referral sources in attendance to the Troika Manager)
- Exercise Professional Meeting Etiquette (know your availability and personally schedule the meeting)
- Research & Prepare
- Show up – Dress up – Speak up – Follow up
- If you must cancel, notify all Troika partners. No-shows are BAD for your personal brand
Guesting: How are you participating?
As a ProVisors member, you have the nation at your fingertips! We have many established regions around the country, so creating a guesting strategy is critical in maximizing your visibility.
- Attend meetings where you’ll find the most referral sources
- Attend Affinity Groups
- Participate in DEI Committees
- Take advantage of attending any home group meetings 3Xs within the year
- Use the HUB to cancel a registration (contact the GL if canceling within 48hrs of a meeting)
Referrals: How are you contributing?
Professional referrals are the source of ProVisors success! These coveted exchanges can be a direct request of goods and services or an introduction to a high net-worth client in need of your expertise.
RECEIVING A REFERRAL:
-
- Acknowledge the member’s request immediately
- Win/Win/Win: If a referral doesn’t fit, refer to another member. Become a recognized ‘giver.’
- Follow-up with a referring member if introduced to their client
GIVING A REFERRAL:
-
- Get approval from the client and do a warm email intro
- Gather all pertinent information and present a thorough referral
- Do a member search and send the referral directly – Do NOT send out mass emails
Testimonials: How are you contributing?
Testimonials are sincere ways of paying homage to your fellow member for a professional act of service that they provided to you or your client – ProVisors Currency! This brief acknowledgement in a meeting is about that member, their professional focus and the work they provided. In preparing to give a testimonial, you should:
- Call and get permission from the member, confirming the information and other pertinent details
- Prepare, Practice and then Present
- Make it Intentional & Opportune
- K.I.S.S. & Positive
- Make Direct Eye Contact
