Mr Selesnick has achieved an unparalleled level of success throughout his career representing a diverse array of national and regional providers in health care litigation, contracting, acquisitions, business formation, dissolution, and risk management. He has successfully litigated a number of the state’s most high profile health care cases including those involving all of the major health plans, as well as many independent practice associations, securing millions of dollars for his clients. Among Mr. Selesnick’s impressive list of victories is the seminal case of Bell v. Blue Cross of California (2005), one of the health care industry’s most significant decisions. He was involved in one of California’s most controversial health care decisions, Prospect Medical Group v. Northridge Emergency Medical Group, et al. (2009), in which the state’s Supreme Court held that patients cannot be billed when their HMOs fail to pay and affirmed the provider’s right to seek reasonable reimbursement. In 2010, Mr. Selesnick successfully represented amicus curiae in the People v. Wellpoint matter, upholding the rights of government agencies to seek redress against health plans. As a result of his expertise in health care matters, Mr. Selesnick has appeared in multiple publications, including the Los Angeles Times and the Daily Journal, among others, and has been invited by both the State Senate and the State Assembly to comment on legislation and regulations affecting providers.
He routinely lectures on legal issues affecting the health care industry and has been a featured panelist for the California Society of Healthcare Attorneys, California Medical Association, Orange County Medical Association, California Chapter of the American College of Emergency Physicians, The Doctors Company, RGI Insurance Services, and Los Angeles Bar Association's Healthcare Section, among others.
