The boutique Santa Monica firm of Cron, Israels & Stark has achieved a highly respected position among Southern California firms. The civil litigation part of the firm is headed by Edward C. Stark. Mr. Stark's tort experience was entirely on behalf of plaintiffs for the first fifteen years of his practice, but then gradually changed and during the last sixteen years his tort practice has morphed into almost 75% defense cases. As such, he is able to bring a unique background and perspective to his cases, having extensive experience on "both sides." His business litigation involves representing between 40 - 60 smaller businesses (usually less than 50 employees)and their litigation needs, many of these businesses having been clients of Mr. Stark's for over 20 years.

Mr. Stark has tried well over 75 jury trials in his career, over 100 bench trials and countless arbitrations and mediations. He also acts as an arbitrator and judge pro tem on occasion. All cases are handled in a small group approach, primarily involving Mr. Stark and one or two excellent associates working as a team. This benefits the client by keeping costs down while maintaining professional, zealous representation.

Mr. Stark has 40-60 business clients at any given time, generally smaller businesses with less than 50 employees. His tort practice handles defense cases for NCMIC Insurance Co. and Zurich Insurance Co., as well as for individuals and entities who may, or may not, have the benefit of insurance coverage. Some clients have been "high profile" individuals and entities from various backgrounds. Mr. Stark has also handled many administrative law matters involving protecting professional individuals in danger of losing their professional licenses. The licensure matters have been on behalf of doctors, chiropractors, dentists, nurses, lawyers, real estate brokers/salespersons, and insurance agents. (While serving on the California Committee of Bar Examiners, he was a member of its Moral Character subcommittee which dealt with licensure matters for prospective California attorneys. The personal injury plaintiff clients usually are individuals who have either been represented by Mr. Stark before or have been referred to him by previous clients, health care providers or other attorneys.
