Michael St. James was graduated from Boalt Hall School of Law and admitted to the Bar in 1980. After a two-year clerkship with Chief Bankruptcy Judge Lloyd King, Mr. St. James embarked upon a practice which has been limited to bankruptcy and insolvency law.
Mr. St. James represents debtors in bankruptcy cases and work-outs, landlords and tenants in work-outs and bankruptcy cases, creditors, Creditors Committees and Trustees in bankruptcy cases. Mr. St. James has represented Debtors in Possession, Reorganization Trustees, Creditors' Committees, trustees and creditors in some of the largest and most complex bankruptcy cases in the Bay Area.
Mr. St. James has been afforded the designation “Board Certified – Business Bankruptcy” from the American Board of Bankruptcy Certification continuously since 1993. Mr. St. James has been certified as a “Legal Specialst – Bankruptcy” by the California State Bar continuously since 2006. Mr. St. James has been designated a “Super Lawyer” continuously since 2006, and a “Best Lawyer” continuously since 2007.
Mr. St. James is a frequent lecturer on topics relating to business bankruptcy, and has published a number of articles on insolvency law matters.
